Africa in Motion Film Festival Poster

EN        We took the detail of the hand holding the megaphone at the end of the inaugural film to make it the main reference. We found that frame powerful. The whole film is a symbol of commitment to cinema in Africa. We see in the festival a similar commitment. Thinking about the theme “looking towards the future” and in memory of our conversations (the necessity to look back), we thought that paradoxical forms made it possible to express a notion like time. We did not want it to look futuristic. We made the African pattern light so as not to make a cliché (Africa is too big:) Finally, we wanted it fo be a bit joyous, isn’t it a festival after all?

FR       Nous avons conservé le détail de la main tenant le mégaphone à la fin du film inaugural pour en faire la référence principale. Nous avons trouvé ce plan particuilièrement puissant. L’ensemble du film est un symbole d’engagement pour le cinéma en Afrique. Nous voyons en le festival un engagement similaire. En pensant au thème “regarder vers l’avenir” et en souvenir de nos conversations (la nécessité de regarder en arrière), nous avons pensé que les formes paradoxales permettaient d’exprimer une notion aussi complexe que le temps. Nous ne voulions pas d’un effet futuriste. Nous avons peu insisté sur le motif africain pour ne pas faire cliché (l’Afrique est trop grande 🙂 Enfin, nous voulions qu’elle soit un joyeuse, n’est-ce pas un festival après tout?
